Annual Board Meeting

Hope everyone stayed warm during the winter weather cold streak that we had recently. Please remember to be safe during freezing temperatures. As you can see, we should have turned off the decorative fountain before the freeze!

The Retreat at Riverland Homeowners Association Annual Members’ Meeting will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the James Island Presbyterian Church Gymnasium, 1632 Fort Johnson Road.

There will be a vote to fill three (3) seats on the Board each having a two-year term. The three Board members with expiring terms have agreed to serve another term if re-elected.  If you are interested in volunteering for the Board, please submit a brief bio to Community Management Group on or before January 30th. All nominations will be announced at the meeting and floor nominations will be accepted prior to the vote.

Tidbit Tuesdays- Retreat Recycling Expanded!

Due to popular demand, the recycling program has been expanded! We now have two large dumpsters located on the other side of the compactor area. These can be accessed through the gate inside of the compactor area (where the small recycling bins were once located).

The new recycling dumpsters will be emptied twice a week by the city and hold twice as much as the old bins combined!

Happy recycling!

Recycling- No Bags!

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the recycling experiment to date. We are amazed by how much people have wanted to recycle on property. However, there have been recurring problems with plastic bags. Plastic bags are NOT allowed. They disrupt the recycling process. Plus they take up more room in the bins. Please only place loose items in the recycling bins!

Second, there have been household trash piled on the recycling bins. Bagged household trash must go in the dumpster.

Finally, cardboard must be broken down before placing in the bins. Empty boxes fill the bins quickly if they are not broken down.

The board is still assessing the usage and what steps we can take to ensure recycling is accessible and tidy at all times.
